Juventus vice-president Pavel Nedved has revealed that the club is awaiting the return of Cristiano Ronaldo to training with the rest of his team-mates, who will come after the Portuguese star’s holidays are over.
After finishing as the top scorer of Euro 2020, the Portuguese is enjoying the holidays and and will report back to Juventus training later in the summer.
As Nedved claimed in an interview with DAZN, Ronaldo has not expressed any intention of leaving the club this summer, with his contract until 2022. The former Juventus midfielder also revealed that Ronaldo’s return to Turin is planned around July 25, with the Serie A set to start almost a month later.
Juventus confidence in Ronaldo’s future
Nedved was not the only Juventus director to say that Ronaldo showed no signs of wanting to leave, as the club’s sporting director Federico Cherubini also expressed his confidence that Ronaldo would stay at the Old Lady.
“There was no sign from Ronaldo of the possibility of leaving,” Cherubini said.
“He has not given us any sign that he wants to leave. We are talking about a player who last year scored 36 goals in 44 games.
“The numbers do not say everything, but they hide a lot of realities. We are happy about that. When his well-deserved rest period is over, he will join the team for the pre-season.”
Another chance to win the Champions League.
After a poor season, Juventus sacked Andrea Pirlo and persuaded former coach Massimiliano Allegri to return to the club.
Under Allegri, Juventus have reached two Champions League finals in the past, but have failed to lift the coveted trophy.
This was one of the reasons after Ronaldo’s move to the Old Lady, but Ronaldo has failed to steer the club towards European glory as he has done four times before with Real Madrid and once again with Manchester United.
It remains to be seen if he will be able to do so next season under Allegri, as Juventus directors are confident their star will stay on the team.
